About us

Founded in October 2022, Giving Back to the Community Inc. was established by a mother-daughter duo, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Sabrina Guzman, with a shared passion for making a difference. Right after the pandemic, when it was finally safe to gather, they saw an opportunity to bring the community back together. With no stable financial backing—just a vision—they organized a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat, believing a family-friendly event would be the perfect way to reconnect neighbors and spark engagement. What started as a simple idea quickly gained momentum.

Initially a grassroots effort driven by their dedication, the initiative soon grew with the support of three key women—Lisette Miranda, Amy Morel, and Aja Hofmann. The tireless efforts of these five women have been the driving force behind the organization’s success.

As their impact widened, an event committee was formed, bringing together a powerhouse team of amazing ladies committed to making a lasting difference. Their energy and dedication turned dreams into action, strengthening our initiatives and broadening our reach.

In December 2024, Giving Back to the Community Inc. proudly achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, a milestone that reflects not just our growth, but our unwavering commitment to serving others. 

From day one, the mission has been simple: to uplift the community and work together toward building a stronger, more connected, and resilient Scranton.
